TheGulbarga planthas been built as a joint venture betweenVicatGroup France andSagar Cements.VicatGroup already has a joint venture (BharathiCement), in Kadapa district (AP) with 5 million tonnes capacity, which has been inoperationsince 2009.
TheGulbarga plant, to be built on a greenfield site, will produce 5.5 million tonnes ofcementper annum on two clinker production lines, each with a daily capacity of 6,000 tonnes. In addition, it will have its own 60megawatts thermal power plant.VicatGroup hasoperationsin nine countries including North America, Europe, Middle East and Asia.
